Sorry for the wait :iconpapcryplz:

Date: 28/4/2012

I'm totally exhausted ...really :iconpapcryplz:
It took me a full week to finish ;___;
I wasted the time :iconpapcryplz: I do really want to draw faster ...but my health is getting worse. Grrrrr back, my hip, my fingers :iconpapcryplz: ...

This work is amazing! It has so much detail, it's simply astonishing. i really love the black and white style. i'm a big fan of tradional drawing.
i can't emagin the time and work this must have been taking to make.
the dress is amazingly detailed and looks really awesome like those old asian dresses.
the background fits the drawing well since it's alot lighter than the characters. the shading is amazingly well done as well.
tho the only problem of making a traditional art like this in black and white is that if it's too detailed it might get a little too crowded. Like the bottom part of the drawing with all the flowers. I can hardly seperate them from one another. that is something to think about when you draw something this complecated.
it's not a big problem tho but just a notification on it ^^.

really amazing piece of art! keep going

Did you use screen tones for this piece?
babyk00lz2010 Featured By Owner Apr 12, 2014  Student Traditional Artist
No I didn't :D
All by hand drawing!

HOLY CRAP! That must have taken forever! How did you get the lighter tones? Were you diluting your ink somehow?
babyk00lz2010 Featured By Owner Apr 12, 2014  Student Traditional Artist
:D it's hard to control pen driver when using ink.
You can use pigment ink pen like Staedtler or Unipin 0.05 instead.
It's much more easier !

I just found a retailer here locally that sells colored inks for press making. I am considering trying them out with brush to see what kind of results I can get. They are dilutable with alcohol, and non water soluble... I am curious to see what I get. They are Higgins inks, which I already use the black for my brush work, so they should be pretty good? But I really like how you did the fade effects for the fabric and background. How large is the original? Is it just a little less ink and more like a stippling effect, or just a lighter pigment?
